Understanding Refunds

If you cancel your enrollment or withdraw from UCR, you may be eligible for tuition and fee refunds. If you withdraw from some of your classes, you are not eligible for a refund. Use the tables below to help determine your anticipated refund.

Important:
  • Financial aid plays a complex role in refunds. Your financial aid counselor can best help you understand your particular refund situation. New students receiving Title IV federal financial aid who withdraw during their first quarter at UCR will receive a pro rata refund if they withdraw by the end of the sixth week of the quarter.
  • See the calendar for the first official day of instruction
  • Learn more about the withdrawal process.
  • Past refund tables may be found in the Archives section.
  • Students in the following Self-Supporting Graduate Programs will receive a 100% refund on their per unit tuition when dropping/withdrawing from some of your classes during the term. If you withdraw from UCR for the term you will be refunded per the UCR Campus Standard Fee Refund Table below.
    • • Flex MBA Program
    • • Executive MBA Program
    • • Master of Finance Program
    • • Master of Professional Accountancy Program
    • • Palm Desert MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts
  • Students in the Online Master of Science in Engineering will be refunded per the UCR Campus Standard Fee Refund Table below for all course adjustments after the first day of instruction and withdrawing from the university for the term.

Non-Refundable Fees

Most fees are eligible for refund, including tuition and campus-based fees. There are a few fees that become nonrefundable after a certain amount of time passes (unless special requirements are met). These include:

Because academic departments must purchase supplies, materials and services prior to instruction, course materials and services fees are non-refundable after the conclusion of the drop/add period.

pic Health Insurance Premium

For all students, the health insurance premium is nonrefundable after the first day of instruction, unless the student enters the Armed Forces and requests a prorated refund from the Campus Health Center.

Contact Student Health Insurance at (951) 827-5683 for details about insurance benefits after the date of withdrawal.
