Know Your Rights

FERPA governs and protects your rights as a student to control your educational records. The primary rights protected under FERPA are:

  • The right to inspect and review your educational records
  • The right to seek amendment to your educational records
  • The right to consent to the disclosure of your educational records (see FERPA Disclosure Policies below)
  • The right to obtain a copy of UCR's FERPA Policy.
  • The right to file a complaint with the FERPA office in Washington, D.C.
